Hey there! It seems the goblins of Azeroth, despite all of their inherent annoyances, have constructed a series of magic tubes that carry information to the furthest reaches of the land. And, thanks to this magical little box I got from my gnome friend Gnorblespitz, I can communicate with the world. Those little green-skinned buggers. Forget Arthas, the Scourge or the Burning Legion, the goblins and gnomes will be the end of us all with their blasted tinkering and blowing things up.
OK, so the name is Hesston. I’m a hunter who’s been tooling around and adventuring in Azeroth for about eight months now. At first, when I just started out in Dun Morogh and the few lands beyond, I was only a casual adventurer, doing quests and errands for folks for the odd coin or five. Then things got bigger.
I tamed my first pet, saw the wonder that is Ironforge and ventured to far reaches of the Eastern Kingdoms. Kalimdor and the lands of the Horde were not far behind. Even still, I tried not to take things too seriously. Adventure called, but I was reluctant to get caught up in the thrill of the hunt and leave other obligations to the wayside.
It took me some time to make the long journey to Outland and to face the Burning Legion. However I did make it, along with my gorilla at the time, Molarom. We did our jobs, collected our bounties and earned a name for ourselves with the folks of that crazy place. We stared down Durn the hungerer and soared on the back of a gryphon over the splendors of Shattarath City.
It was a wild place though, and friends were hard to come by. It was difficult there to rally other hardy adventurers who didn’t already have a steady group to go to the depths of Hellfire Peninsula or the murk of Underbog. Many had already been there for a time and found their niche, running with skilled and experienced groups through places I could only imagine. I did have a chance to face Gruul the Dragonkiller and Magtheridon, though I didn’t last long.
It wasn’t until I heard that brat Arthas was back and threatening us with his foul stench that I began to take this adventuring business seriously. So, I packed my bags with my best cold-weather gear, loaded up Molarom onto an ship in Stormwind Port and off we went to the Northrend.
We hit the ground running, exploring and adventuring all over the frozen lands. We actually managed to see it all within a few weeks. I’ve acquired new gear, including my beloved Nesingwary 4000, and even found a new best friend, my cat KIT (don’t worry, Molarom found a good home). I found KIT in a cursed and terribly depressing place called Zul’Drak, chewing on some trolls. I released him from his curse, tamed him and he’s been good to me ever since. Not to mention he packs quite a wallop when he’s pissed (though I think he may be getting de-clawed soon).
I did find some other heroes to tackle the new dangers with and have since battled through heroic challenges such as Utgarde Keep, The Nexus, Violet Hold and the Oculus. I tell you, I never thought riding on the back of a flying lizard could be so fun!
My new buddies and I are eye-balling Naxxramas these days. We hear the place is chock full of baddies and wondrous treasures. After a total failure of a first attempt in the Plague Quarter, we are going back this weekend. Hopefully things will go better this time around. If only that damn healer’s tubes didn’t keep breaking. Come on friend, the goblins offer a high-speed deal for a mere gold a month, you waste that much in fishing lures.
So it is, this is Hesston signing off. Until next time kids, keep your eyes on the target and your belly well fed.
