“Kneel before Zod!”

Hesston | May 5, 2010 5:50 am

Yeah so that finally happened last night. Good times, good times. No else needed them, so I also grabbed the legs from Deathwhisper as well. I believe they’re BiS for hunters these days. Problem is I foolishly spent badges on the frost emblem chest because I’d won the T10.5 legs from VoA so putting together the ArP set is going to be a pain.

Meh, whatever. Hesston is a happy orc.

Jumping on the bandwagon

Hesston | April 17, 2010 9:48 am

So yeah, I jumped on it like all the other fools and bought a star pony. The way I justify it, I’ve secured a mount for all of my future alts.

/facepalm

In other news, rogue is at level 65 and making his way toward Northrend. Once he’s 80 I’ll do my usual heroic zerg and see how fast I can get him geared and then I’ll have six level 80s to adventure with in Cataclysm.

Where there’s a (DB)will there’s a way

Hesston | April 13, 2010 11:32 pm

Pretty stoked about that. I think only a few times have I had BiS items for progression. DBW is one of those things that everyone wants, I was really lucky to get it. Pretty much all of the hunter shinies dropped off of our Tuesday raids, stuff most of our hunters haven’t seen yet. The bracers, belt, two tokens and DBW. No bow for me, but that’s OK. Always next time and no one else needs it.

Also snagged:

Yeah, it was a good week. We may not be a top-tier guild, but we’re having a ball.

Oh, and my rogue is in outland. Loads of fun, can’t wait for Cataclysm.

Hot hunter loot revealed

Hesston | May 7, 2009 9:52 am

Confirmed to drop from Algalon as well as hard-mode bosses. I’m inclined to think there is an equivalent bow and/or gun as well, but could be wrong.

Considering Keeper hard modes and Algalon are not in our future, I’ll be content with my Giant’s Bane.

Greatness, I haz it!

greatness

Some lucky procs on my scribe and a little gold, and I finally have the damn card. Now, if only I could get my other trinket. I pug’ed OS and of course the caster one drops, which doesn’t drop when I pug it on Minalias. Eff you RNG!

I also got some new shoulders, which gives me the T8, 2-piece bonus. This, in turn, gives my Chimera Shots a little more oomph.

And Mimiron is still a jerk. We hates him.

That is all for now.

I think I’ll call her Lucille

giantsbane

So, for those of you have been following along on the adventures of Hesston (all two of you, I love you so much), you know he’s had a hell of a time getting his BiS ranged weapon. He was thrilled when he finally got his Nerubian Conquerer from 10-man Naxx. But then, he hit a RNG slump.

The one time we saw the drool-worthy Envoy of Mortality drop from Kel in 25-man Naxx, a more deserving hunter (and one with more DKP at the time), snatched it up. “No problem” I thought, there’s always next time.

Next time came: no gun.

Next time came: no gun.

Next time came: no gun.

Then Ulduar came and no more Naxx runs.

Well, I knew what was coming up once we started to chip away at Ulduar. Hunters finally got a reprieve and don’t have to wait for the last boss for their BiS ranged anymore (until something amazing off of Alagon or Yogg is revealed). Two bosses, one right after the other, Kologarn and Auriaya, drop Giant’s Bane and Siren’s Cry, respectively. Knowing we would be there soon, I set up to have a slight DKP edge over the one other person that might want one of those.

To make a long story short, we laid the law down on Kologarn (after some progressive wipes) and bam, there she was. Giant’s Bane, a new, shiny steampunkish gun, and she’s all mine. Talk about the “Squee” heard around the world.

Hesston is a very happy dwarf. Thanks Summit, I owe you big time.

Remember the Titans…

Hesston | April 20, 2009 1:34 am

…because we’re killing ‘em!

Too tired to go into detail now, but we’re making a lot of headway into Ulduar on normal. We’re a 25-man raiding guild, but the 10-man progression gives us a great chance to see the encounters and understand their mechanics. I’ll write the hunter-related stuff to these encounters later.

Downed so far:

  • Flame Leviathan

  • Razorscale
  • XT-002 Deconstructor
  • Kologarn
  • The Iron Council
  • Auriaya
  • Freya
  • Hodir

We also managed 10-man Emalon, the new VoA boss. His mechanic is different, but once you get it down he too will become a loot pinata.

Loot

  • Avalanche – Not a remarkable upgrade from my gun. But, seeing as how my chances of getting the gun from Heroic KT are slim, went ahead and took it. The other hunter has the gun, so it was cool. Have to get used to the silent arrows again.
  • Valorous Scourgestalker Handguards – I know, I know, I just got the Gloves of Taut Grip last night, but these are T8. I gemmed and enchanted and they are slightly better, but not by much. The payoff will come in working toward that four-piece bonus. I may keep using the non-tier gloves until I get a second piece of the T8. The two-piece bonus will make my Chimera Shots hit even harder.

Sleep now, more later.

Hunter T8 25-Man

Hesston | March 19, 2009 12:45 am

Yes please!

    Tier Set Bonus:

  • 2Piece Bonus — Increases the damage done by your Serpent Sting by 10%.
  • 4Piece Bonus — Your Steady Shot has a chance to grant you 600 attack power for 15 sec.

On a side note, I got some new kicks tonight. No gun from Kel’Thuzad this go, which sucks because I passed on two sets of hunter shoulders to save the DKP for the Kel drop and would have had no competition. Oh well, there’s always next week.

3.1 hunter loot

Hesston | March 17, 2009 11:16 pm

I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of 3.1. Though I hate to have my Christmas spoiled by peeking at the presents, I would be a liar if said I wasn’t drooling over some of the stuff coming our way from our clash with the Titans.

The good folks over at MMO Champion have been doing most of the legwork for us, but I figured I’d compile as much of the hunter loot here as possible.

So here it is, in no particular order:

That’s about all they have up for now. Mind you, this is still all PTR stuff so none of the items and stats are finalized yet. Also, this certainly isn’t all there is. A blue poster stated that Ulduar has “more items than all of BC’s raids put together.”

I can’t wait.

Undocumented 3.1 changes

Hesston | March 12, 2009 5:56 pm

MMO Champion, the knowers of all things knowable, have a whole gaggle of new 3.1 updates on their site. Among them are these undocumented 3.1 changes for our most noble class:

    Survival

  • Wyvern Sting cooldown has been lowered from 1.5min to 1min.
  • Frost Trap now slows down the enemy by 50%. (Down from 60%)
  • Resourcefulness now also effects Black Arrow.
  • Entrapment changed to – When your Frost Trap, Immolation Trap, Explosive Trap and Snake Trap are triggered you entrap all afflicted targets, preventing them from moving for 2/4/6 sec.
  • Beast Mastery

  • Animal handler now increases the duration of your Master’s Call effect by 6 sec. (Down from 10 sec)
  • Marksmanship

  • Wild Quiver now deals 80% weapon nature damage. (Old – 80% Nature damage, wording change?)
  • Concussive Barrage changed from 3 to 2 ranks, now gives your successful Chimera Shot and Multi-Shot attacks a 50/100% chance to Daze the target for 4 sec. (Old – 2/4/6% chance on Auto Shot, Multi-Shot, and Volley)
  • Efficiency now reduces the Mana cost of your Shots and Stings by 3/6/9/12/15%. (Up from 2/4/6/8/10%)
  • Glyphs

  • Glyph of the Monkey has been removed.
  • Glyph of Mend Pet has been added – Increases the healing done by your Mend Pet ability by 40%.
  • Glyph of Raptor Strike – For 3 sec (down from 5 sec) after using Raptor Strike, you take 20% less damage.

Nothing major, just some math for the most part. They are also starting to find the T8 set bonuses, but as of right now they only have druid and DK up. Can’t wait to see what the pointy new set gives us.

In Hesston news, picked up two new pieces of loot.

  • Leggings of Failed Escape – I kind of set it in my mind that I would take whatever came first between these, T7.5, and the Leggings of Colossal Strides. I like the AP bump on the latter, but being able to upgrade with more AGI/STA/INT than both and keep my sockets sold it for me.

  • Grim Toll – Now, whenever necessary I am comfortably hit capped. This allowed me to re-gem and trade out the +HIT gems for +AGI/+CRIT stuff. Actually, between the boots, Black Ice and new legs, I am over hit capped. Mo’ money, mo problems.

Sadly, at the end of the 25-man Naxx run last night it was a hunter’s wet dream. Both Journey’s End and the Envoy of Mortality dropped. I was out of DKP and the other hunter who needed them most had more anyway. It was fine though, as she passed on the helm the other night because I needed it more. She about passed out from excitement upon getting both at once, I would have too. Always next time right, we’ve got Naxx-25 on farm anyway (something I never thought I’d say).

Note to self: No more spending DKP until you get your best in slot gun, everything else can wait.
